Marc McCartney on LeadNow 08 Orlando

LeadNow+Orlando

April 24th – 26th, 2008

We will kick things off on Thursday with a satellite broadcast from Blue Like Jazz author Donald Miller!  Don will be live in Seattle meeting with a group of Pastors & Leaders.  It’s pretty cool how technology will allow us to connect with like minded leaders in the Pacific Northwest.  I think there will be a tremendous amount to energy in Orlando as we begin to realize just how many of us there are out there that are dedicated to helping this generation put their faith in action!

Also on Thursday we will hear from some of the sharpest young leaders in Orlando in Isaac Hunter & Josh Loveless.  Yes Isaac is the son of Dr. Joel Hunter.  Speaking as somebody who is the son of someone famous – the son will eventually surpass the Dad.  Seriously… it’s true.  My Dad is 67 years young and I can finally beat him in basketball.  He still owns me in ping pong though.  Maybe when his vision goes I’ll be able to take him.  But back to Isaac – he can bring the word.  You are going to love him.  He is the Pastor at Summit Church in Orlando and they are something like 5 years old and have 20 & 30 something’s crawling all over the place.  Then you have Josh Loveless from Status – another dude with a famous Dad.  My kind of guys.  Josh is a serious thinker – did you catch his article in Relevant Magazine about becoming a follower of Christ before you become a believer?  Trust me; he will get your mind churning.

Thursday will conclude with Al Weiss who happens to be the President of Disney Resorts.  I am really hoping he offers my family a free Disney cruise for inviting him to speak, maybe you guys can pray for that to happen?  Yes – that was a joke – please get used to my sarcasm or we could have some serious misunderstandings here.  Al is really intriguing to me because he has been so successful in his field and he is leveraging his gifts and wisdom to do some amazing work in church planting.  You won’t want to miss what is happening with strategic church plants literally all over the world.

On Friday we add another local leader in Rob Duford of Orlando North Community Church and author of Seldom Familiar. We believe so much in Rob that we did an entire video series with him on the life of Joseph.  He is a Louie Giglio clone in his teaching style, but looks like Keanu Reeves – both comments are meant to be compliments.  Also coming in on Friday is a group of folks that are no strangers to LeadNow:

Margaret Feinberg – author of The Organic God and lots of other books.  We’ve done several video projects with Margaret and she has a unique way of helping people understand the mindset of 20 & 30 year olds.  Margaret also gives some of the best practical tips that you’ll be able to immediately take back to your church and implement.

Dan Kimball – author of They Like Jesus But Not the Church and Pastor at Vintage Faith Community Church in Santa Cruz.  I love Dan. He is completely willing to talk about the difficult topics, but does so with such grace and humility.  I can pretty much guarantee two things when you listen to Dan for the first time – he will challenge your thinking and he will do it in a way that honors Christ.

Todd Phillips – author of Get Uncomfortable and Pastor at Frontline in Washington DC.  Our video crew just returned from a couple of weeks in Africa with Todd and we are finalizing what will be our second video series with him.  Todd came to Christ as a young adult and had a huge bent towards evangelism.  In studying for his doctorate, Todd began to read the Bible in a new light as he noticed how often God talked about the poor and oppressed.  The result has been a tremendous ministry that marries evangelism and social justice in a God honoring way.

Marcus “Goodie” Goodloe – right hand man to Erwin McManus at Mosaic in Los Angeles.  Before moving to LA, Goodie lived in Dallas and we got to know each other real well.  Goodie is whole hearted for Christ.  Nothing else in his life compares to his pursuit of Glorifying God.  You’ll notice a common theme here, but we have a video series with Goodie as well that we featured at Fusion last year on the life of Nehemiah.  Goodie is a dynamic leader that will combine deep, critical thinking with real life passion to inspire you to go after the dreams God has given you.

Erwin McManus – from Mosaic Los Angeles and author of lots of books, my favorite is Chasing Daylight.  You guessed it; we did a video series around it.  Erwin was at our first ever event in 2004 and we are so pumped to have him back.  He is uniquely gifted by God to tell the truths of scripture in a way that brings life.  His words will stick with you and help you on your faith journey.  He is going to give a message to all LeadNow attendees on Friday afternoon and he’ll also be there to kick things off for Fusion on Friday night.

On Saturday you can expect more great teaching from this phenomenal crew we have as well as some experiential learning environments that will engage 20 & 30 something’s in a profound way.  I’m convinced that you’ll be able to take some of the things we do at Fusion and contextualize them for your setting.

As you can see – I am pretty pumped about this whole thing.  In fact, I can’t wait to get to Orlando and get this started!

Join Me.  Join Erwin.  Join Donald (via the big screen). Join Margaret.  Join Al.  Join Isaac.  Join us all in learning how to launch this generation out in their faith to bring Christ the most glory!  I’ll see you in Orlando!
